115 people turned out at the village hall tonight to air their views on the BK3 development.
approx 33 people sent their apologies. The Parish Council presented the current situation. - upcoming will be the public consultation on the suitability of the entire site of BK3 for inclusion in NHDC land allocations - imminently there will be a provisional planning application on the west side of BK3 by the Rand Brothers, who aim to build approximately 70 homes, with a provision of approximately 28 social homes and 14 affordable homes. - a provisional planning application on McIntrye's field is expected before the end of the year. Robert Rand, from Rand Brothers, presented their case for developing their site. It was clear that of those attending the meeting, that there was unanimous consensus against the proposals. Both the Parish Council and District Councillor oppose all three proposals, and confirmed this tonight. The Parish Council will publish its findings and how the public can oppose each of the actions, as and when they arise. Watch this space. Meanwhile spread the word.. Battle For Barkway. if you want to live in a village say so. If you want expansion to a small town say so too. Remember. There's no guarantees any new sustainable amenities will be built. And reaching the amenities we need will affect neighbouring villages. Especially Barley Battle for barkway. Have your say ! just a reminder folks. So over night and this morning, some kind person saw fit to vandalise our Battle Sign on the Joint, and tear down the signs ( again) on Royston Road.
One sign was torn up into pieces. Police are aware. The signs will be replaced as clearly the message is getting through. Battle For Barkway. STOP EXCESSIVE DEVELOPMENT NOW. Barkway Parish Council are holding a Public Meeting on Wednesday 31st August at 7.30pm in the Village Hall.
The purpose of the meeting is to obtain the views of the public on the draft proposal for the allocation of site BK3 for development and the anticipated planning applications on each part of BK3. Some of you may have noticed that one of our Battle Signs on Royston road has been damaged. It was brought to our attention that it had been partly knocked down and left lying in the road.
Thankfully we were able to remove it quickly before it caused an accident or damage. To make it easier for us to keep everyone up to date, we will publish all news on the battle for barkway website.
Updates will be posted directly to our facebook page, and now to twitter.. @barkwaybattle Please follow us... but above all KEEP SPREADING THE WORD #BATTLE4BARKWAY The residents of Barkway Parish will receive over this weekend, or may already have received it, their copy of the Barkway Bulletin, from the Parish Council, along with a copy of the Battle for Barkway window poster.
It would be great if you could display this in your window, or perhaps laminate it and display it roadside on your property to compliment and add to the Battle Signs that have been erected at the entrances to the village. displaying this poster shows your support against the development of BK3. As mentioned, at the moment, we are anticipating separate planning applications for both the Rand's and McIntyres field, whilst we simultaneously await the public consultation phase of the "proposed" land allocation preferred options, before it is sent to the Inspectorate of the Secretary of state for consideration, When either of these proposals actually comes up, AND when the public consultation for the Preferred Land options starts, that is when you, the public get to have your say against these proposals. The Parish Council and Battle For Barkway will inform you as soon as any one of the above come up and will advise you what you can do to help oppose any, or all three of these proposals. Please show your support against this development by displaying the poster. If you didn't get one, or need more download one from www.barkway-village.co.uk or click here Site BK3 has not even been decided upon by the Planning Inspectorate but already we expect to see 2 planning applications within weeks on each of the two sites that make up the plot.
How can NHDC even consider planning applications at this stage? However plans are under way to fight this and that is where we will need YOUR support when the time comes. Stay tuned. As the campaign evolves we will keep you updated here. You can also follow us on Facebook.. on the Battle for Barkway Page. Spread the word BATTLE FOR BARKWAY |
